Object info

M81 seen at left in the image forms a physical pair with M82. Both galaxies lie at a distance of about 12 million light years. The galaxies are only separated by 150.000 light years and are locked in "gravitational combat". The gravity from each of the galaxies has a huge effect on the other.


Processing

DSLRFocus was used for focussing. Photoshop CS2 was used for further processing - curves adjustment, levels adjustment, etc.


Comments

Bad sky conditions - (high humidity and fog). If your screen is well calibrated, you should be able to just see Holmberg IX slightly above M81.
