Object info

NGC2392, also known as the "Eskimo Nebula" (sometimes referred to as the "Clownface Nebula", although not common) is a small planetary nebula in the constellation Gemini.
It is estimated to be only about 1000 years old.

It is a bright planetary nebula at mag 10.1, and is therefore also visible in relatively small telescopes.
The distance to NGC2392 is about 3.000 light-years.

Processing

DSLRFocus for focusing. Calibration, aligning and stacking in IP 2.8. Photoshop CS2 was used for final processing.
Light frames were calibrated using 40 darks, 25 flats and 20 bias frames.

Comments

Exposure time of the individual frames had to be kept short in order to not overexpose this relatively bright planetary nebula.
