Object info

NGC404 (Mirach's Ghost) is a small lenticular galaxy which is visible near the star Mirach in the constellation Andromeda.
The small galaxy lies at a distance of 10.3 million light years, while the star Mirach (Beta Andromedae) lies at a distance of only 200 light years.


Processing

CCDOPS was used for focussing. Image Acquisition was done using CCDSOft.
All separate frames were calibrated, aligned and stacked in ImagesPlus 2.8.
Photoshop CS2 was used for further processing - curves adjustment, levels adjustment, etc. The image was calibrated using 10 darks, 12 (dark-subtracted) average combined flats and bias frames.
