Object info

NGC 7000 is known as the "North America Nebula". It is an emission nebula which can be found in the constellation Cygnus.
It is a very large nebula as it covers an area of more than 4 times the size of the full moon, it lies at a distance of about 1500 light years.

The nebulousity on the right side of the image is called the "Pelican Nebula" (IC5070).
Both nebulae lie at approx. the same distance and are separated by a dark absorption cloud (dust).

Processing

CCDOPS was used for focussing. Image acquisition was done using CCDSOft.
All separate frames were calibrated, aligned and stacked in ImagesPlus 2.8.
Photoshop CS2 was used for further processing - curves adjustment, levels adjustment, etc. The image was calibrated using 4 darks, 5 average combined (dark-subtracted) flats and 5 average combined bias frames.

Comments

Most subframes were taken with +/- 50% moon rising
