Additional notes and remarks:

Object info

First light (test-images) of the new SBIG ST-8300M Monochrome CCD camera.

Both images were taken under extremely bad conditions, lots of snow (=reflected light pollution), humidity, fog and moonlight (80% of full).

No flats were used (and it shows), as my methods of taking flats with a DSLR turned out to be totally inadequate for monochrome CCD imaging.
Image of M42 was taken through the 80/480 TMB with the Televue TRF2008 @f4.8, but without the correct spacing from the reducer to CCD focal plane. Image of M97 was taken throught the 10" OO UK Newton and uses the Paracorr and the correct spacing (by using T extenders).

Processing

Lots of processing in Photoshop CS2.
