The Seagull Nebula got its name from resembling a gull in flight.
IC 2177 is a region of nebulosity at the border of the constellation Monoceros and Canis Major.
It is a relatively bright nebula and measures nearly 240 ly across.
Two open star clusters are also visible in the image, NGC 2335 (top) + NGC 2343 (left of center).

Reasonably good conditions. Object is rather low in the sky and somewhat obstructed from my site.
