NGC7822 is a young star forming complex in Cepheus and is estimated to be about 2.900 ly distant.
The complex also contains a very hot star (an eclipsing binary system) which has a surface temperature of almost 45.000K. This star is one of the primary sources illuminating the surrounding nebula.
